STEAM Projects - Stop motion

I can create my own stop motion movie using clay and my iPad.
These were collaborative STEAM projects which incorporated technology and art skills for Grade 2. Students got into small groups and mind mapped their stop motion idea. They then created the scene and characters using play-dough. One student from each group was the designated photographer and the others were in charge of moving parts of their set or characters.

Growing crystals - Science ​
Objective

Learn how long it takes for sugar crystals to form, based on how saturated the sugar/water solution is.

Learn how changes in the saturation level affect the rate at which crystals form.
​
Each child had the chance to grow their own sugar crystal as well as understand the science behind what was happening. They had to work through the investigation and follow the scientific process.

Looking at how plants help to filter water. Year 4 students conducted an experiment to see whether plants would help to filter water. This project was linked to the Earth Day Fair at the school.

Creating large scale collage images based on themes from social studies. One of my classes chose to do a scene from Halong Bay and the other chose a giant wave from our Natural Disasters unit.
These themes were based on the units - Vietnam, Our Country and Natural Disasters. We used recycled material - magazines and chip bags.

Building a terrarium -

This Grade 4 activity was to follow instructions on how to build terrarium. Students learned about the format of writing instructions in English and also about ecosystems and mini-biomes in science.
