I can use the positive and negative form of the verb.

I understand the difference between singular (one) and plural (many).

Measurable achievement goal:

Students can form questions using: Are there…. or Is there….. and

can answer questions using: There are/ aren’t and There is/isn’t

Materials required:

Procedure:

1. Lesson Introduction (10 minutes):

Go through the food vocabulary cards.

2. Guided Lesson (30 minutes):

Divide the students into pairs (small groups). Give each student a kitchen picture and each pair a set of sentence cards. Tell the students to place the food picture worksheet face-up on the table in front of them and to shuffle the vocabulary cards and spread them out face-down. Go over the vocabulary on the cards with the students. Next, explain that the students are going to play a card game where they make There is/are... OR There aren’t/isn’t and include the descriptors 'any' or 'some' for the appropriate words to form sentences that describe the kitchen scene in the picture.

Students take it in turns to turn over three cards. If the words on the three cards go together to form a true sentence about the picture, the student reads the sentence aloud, places the three-card sentence under the picture and scores a point. If the three cards don't make a true sentence, the cards are turned back over, keeping them in the same place. The game continues with students taking it in turns to turn over three cards until all the sentences have been completed. The student with the most points at the end of the game is the winner.

3. Closing the Lesson (15 min):

Review the sentences with the class and play the Kahoot together (20 questions).
